Grateful for Chiropractic

I am so grateful for everything chiropractic has brought to my life. Chiropractic gave me my son back. It gave me a healthy pregnancy and a beautiful birth for my second child. It gave me purpose. It gave me a vision. It gave me peace and certainty. It continues to give me balance and it continues to serve my mind, body, and soul.

My chiropractic story begins with two lovebirds and their brand new baby boy. I was in my early twenties with dreams of what life was becoming. My husband was in the Army serving our great country. Our son, Liam Dallas, was born on a hot July morning — just 45 minutes after his daddy arrived to the hospital from his deployment overseas. My husband was home on leave for two weeks from Afghanistan. Our boy was absolutely beautiful and weighed a perfect 7lb 6oz. He was a tiny brown-eyed replica of his daddy.

Our lives changed forever when he was diagnosed with autism at 18 months. My husband and I were willing to try it all. We drained our savings trying every therapy under the sun. With every therapy and treatment, we got our hopes up and we were ultimately left with limited success in occupational therapy, speech therapy, diet changes, and supplements. We were tired and we felt powerless. — Enter Chiropractic — My best friend is a chiropractor and she encouraged me to take my son to a chiropractor. My husband and I were uncertain about taking him to get adjusted because we didn’t understand how powerful chiropractic is. She insisted and we figured it couldn’t hurt — and we had no other options left. We finally listened.

After his first appointment, our constipation-riddled child was able to use the bathroom. This was incredibly significant considering that our baby would get so constipated that we frequented the emergency room due to impaction. That alone was enough for us to continue care. A few months went by and I began to realize the changes in our son’s life. We took our son to get a haircut and it was event-free. He didn’t cry and we didn’t have to hold him down. He was starting to show interest in drawing and coloring. And then it happened — he was talking and he was saying sentences. His first word after starting chiropractic care was “car” and his first sentence was “I see cars.” (He really liked cars!) The most amazing part of this testimony is that he wasn’t supposed to be able to do any of this. We were told that he wouldn’t be able to communicate, express his emotions, or socialize with other kids. But here he was shattering that statistic.

Chiropractic Changed the Trajectory of Our Lives

I remember the exact moment when Liam told me that he loved me for the first time. This was an original thought of an innate emotion being expressed verbally for the first time. I had been waiting for that moment for so long — I waited for that since the moment I knew his little soul existed in my body. Chiropractic gave me that moment. Chiropractic removed the interference and allowed his body to heal. It was chiropractic that brought my boy back to us. Chiropractic changed the trajectory of his life — and our lives with it.

I often think about what chiropractic means to me and only one word comes to mind: Hope. Hope, because my son’s diagnosis left us without hope and chiropractic restored it. As I reflect upon this word “hope”, I can only wonder how many “Liams” are out there. I would be honored to have the opportunity to restore your hope — I don’t want anyone to feel powerless because something else feels more powerful than them.

This is my story, but you have your own. Maybe pieces of my story mirrors yours or maybe your struggles are different altogether. Regardless of where you are in your journey, though, I am here to serve you — pregnancy, pediatrics, special needs, and full families. It is my mission to provide subluxation-based chiropractic care to patients in order to promote family wellness on a neurological, emotional, and physical level. You have chiropractors here — a family here — waiting for you. I would be honored to be your chiropractor.

Outside the Office

dr-erin-and-familyI grew up in Virginia Beach , Virginia. Not only am I a Navy kid, but I am also a United States Air Force veteran and Army wife. We have been married for over ten years and we still emphasize love and laughter in our home. We have two beautiful children, Liam and Lana. My family and I are true Southerners, so send us warm thoughts up here in the North. I will trade warm hugs for some red beans and rice or collard greens! I am a graduate of Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) and a huge fan of the New Orleans Saints!!! Football season may get dicey as we bleed purple and gold on Saturdays and black and gold on Sundays.

I graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University in Marietta, Georgia. I am Webster Certified and a proud member of the Epic Pediatric community to continue to learn more about how to best serve the community of Crystal Lake.
